The Little Things

It never fails to amaze me how the little things in life seem to make the biggest difference. Something so small can turn your day around in a matter of seconds. & Every time it happens, I remember to be grateful for the little things.

For example, I always try to plan plan plan everything. But Monday I was super amped up on coffee, and spur the moment, decided that I wanted to go antique shopping. Normally Im not an antique-y kind of person. I think its beautiful, but not my style. Regardless, Chris braved Cotton City & Antiques at the Loop with me. (and we got some super cute stuff- I got 2 broaches & he got a decanter!) But as we were walking in I saw this very odd sculpture of a head hunter made of solid wood. Our conversation went something like this.
Me: *sees sculpture* *looks confused* Shit ass, look at that!
Chris: *puzzled look* Oh my GOD!
Me: Im not really sure what to think abou... whhhat the hell is that a penis?
Chris: Yes, Whitney, it has a penis... *pause* I LOVE THIS.
Me: I dont know what it is....
Chris: Its a head hunter... Hence the head in hand.
Me: Gotcha... dont know what I think about it...
Chris: I LOVE IT. I think we should turn our office into an art gallery!!
Me. ... um... okay? Do you want this for your birthday?
Chris: YES! If I had $200 to blow right now, I would do it right now.

Okay, so at least I know what to buy Chris for his birthday. I have to admit, I was definitely a conversation piece. We spent the rest of the day talking about how we are going to turn our office into an art gallery, complete with wood floors and pin spot lighting & red paint. Over the top, you might say? Yes. Definitely over the top. But we are weird so who cares. It was also fun spending hours on ebay and online searching for different weird art that we like. Even if we never even buy one piece of art, it was really fun spending the day day dreaming about things we could do. :) Plus it was good to be reminded that I dont have to be so anal about planning things. Sometimes the best times are when we are just hanging out together.

Also on Monday I got some really awesome boots...

& Speaking of shopping... I think this is the first time in my life that I actually ENJOY shopping. Normally I run from the dresses, I hate(d) trying them on. They never fit right. BUT. Yesterday I got a beautiful Calvin Klein nude colored dress that I am seriously in love with.
I actually feel good about myself in this. And I was excited about going to work today because I got to wear my amazing new dress. ((This dress is totally replacing my LBD. This is a new 'go to'))

Its kind of funny how a new dress or a single comment or something so small and really insignificant can completely change your day.

I hope everybody has a great day today!

P.S. I heard this song on pandora this morning & my heart smiled. Hope yall like it too...
