Cow Tongue Taco

Last week was extremely busy, but it was a great week. From wedding planning to eating a cow tongue taco, it was certainly interesting. This is a long blog, but I promise if you read to the end, it will be worth some of the funny shit that happened. If you're rushing through this one, scroll down and read about my cow tongue taco experience.

Two for Tuesdays
Tuesday afternoon, Ginger & Tarriq headed back home & I headed out with Suzanne. I love having company, but I was ready for a little outing with Suzy. We hit up Crooked Martini for Happy Hour- & that is ALWAYS a good time. Their Bubble 07 Martini is ahh-mazing. Afterwards we went to Ollies for 2for1 Hookah night & Pizza. I love having date nights with Suzanne. She cracks me up.

Thursday with the Fam - Wedding Planning
Thursday I met Mom, Dad, Mimi, Lauren & Josh for lunch at Atlanta Bread. Afterwards Mom, Dad, Mimi and I went to look at Space 301 again. Everybody loved it as much as I do! We have a 2 week hold put on the June 2nd. We are going to sign the contract & give her a check ASAP!! Im glad we have a final decision made on something. :)

Friday Night
After work Friday night, I went home & cooked spaghetti for me & Suzanne. It was a nice, relaxing dinner at home. I dont know whats better- Girls Night Out with Suzy, or Girls Night In.

Kickball/Wedding/Taco Dance/After Party
Saturday I started my morning with an amazing Bodies by Cindy boot camp. I also got invited to play Kickball for the BBC team! Im not going to lie, aside from the Taco Dance, this was probably the highlight of my week. The season starts June 22nd & we have games once a week for 8 weeks. Plus, we have a "League Bar" that everybody goes to after the games. Cant get much better.
After working out & laying around the house all morning, Chris and I got ready for Paul & Jessie's wedding. We pulled up to the wedding, and Dave & Mona Stempien (Chad's parents) were right in front of me. I probably should have prepared myself for the fact that they were going to be there, but JESUS seeing them ripped my heart out. I had to go sit back in the car so I could finish crying without making a scene at Pauls wedding. I know it was Paul's day, but the whole time I was there, I couldnt stop staring at Dave & Mona... I couldnt stop thinking about Chad. I wanted to talk to them so badly, but I didnt know what to say. Whew. It was kind of rough seeing them. Plus, Look at this sweet baby. This is Chad's nephew, Caleb. He looks JUST like Chad.
Okay. Enough of that. Whhhew. The wedding was nice.  Here are the grooms men... Out of control...

First kiss as husband and wife!
Chris & Mike

After the wedding, I insisted Chris take me to the Bike Shop for some food & a margarita. & ever since I learned that Bike Shop served Cow Tongue Taco's I've wanted to try one. Also, Bike Shop serves sushi from Liquid as well. It completely made sense to order Guac & Chips, 2 cow tongue tacos & 2 rolls of sushi.
Okay- here is Chris taking his first bite of the Cow Tongue Taco.
& Here is my first bite! I really enjoyed it, if you cant tell.

It was DELICIOUS! It was so delicious, that I made up a dance in honor of the Cow Tongue Taco. It is appropriately named The Crazy Cow Tongue Taco Dance. (Because, CTT make me crazzzzy). I will post a picture of my dance later in the blog. Bur first, a hysterical conversation between me & Suzanne via text.

Me: What are you doing tonight?
Suzy: a cuban hooker
Suzy: I have no idea-whats up?
Me: Haha we are at Bike Shop. Wanted to see if you wanted to hang out.
Me: Chris just said the phrase "excuse me while I clean up my taco"
Suzy: LICK IT CLEAN
Suzy: And yes I want to hang out!
Me: Ok come whenever you can!
Suzy: Ok I am heading that way!!! I totally need a taco
Me: Yay!!! Im eating a cow tongue taco
Suzy: SICK IS IT GOOD?
Me: Yes!!!
Suzy: OK IM COMING
Me: Speed. Im buzzed and I need to show you my cow tongue taco dance
Suzy: OMGGGGG

Bahaha. Im glad I have such good friends.  Here is a picture of me doing the dance... The dance goes like this 1. Hooves up. 2. Lick it to the left. 3. Lick it to the right. 4. Hooves go crazy, tongue wags, "CRAZY COW TONGUE TACO DANCE!!"
Lindsay,  Laura & Judson met us downtown too. We had a blasty blast.

After Bike Shop, Chris, Suzy & I went back to our house for drinks & hookah. Nelson came too.

Saturday was a great day with friends. :)

Other Stuff
On Friday, Chris and I are going to go to New Orleans for the night. Im extremely excited about getting out of Mobile for a few days and getting extra time with Chris. We arent going to make many plans, just to eat beignets & spend time together. I cant wait to post pictures next week. Hope everybody has a good Monday!

Graduation Weekend & My First Paddy's Experience

Friday

Friday night Chris and I went to dinner at Felix's with a group of people from his EMS classes. It was a really nice dinner, too! I had seared Ahi Tuna that was PHENOMENAL! Oh my god, I could eat it for every meal every day. Plus I was super excited that I got a few extra minutes with Chris.

Saturday

GRADUATION DAY! Chris has known that it was coming for months. He chose not to send out invites, or announcements. He called and told his family on Thursday. Needless to say, there was not much planning that went into Graduation on Chris' part. When we went to get dressed Saturday, Chris realized that he did not have any pants to wear. We hauled ass to Belk and found him a really nice pair of pants and a nice yellow tie. I also go the CUTEST mustard colored dress!

Once we were dressed, Chris dropped me off with Mimi so we could meet up with Mike for some lunch before the commencement ceremony.
Being a smart girl, I packed a few things to keep me busy during graduation, like Scrabble on my iPod. This seemed like a perfect idea.... until I MISSED CHRIS GETTING HIS DIPLOMA. I kept listening for 'Myron King', because I knew he was listed right before Chris. Good plan, except that Myron didnt walk.... so all of a sudden I hear "Christopher Lee Newman" and I was like SHIT SHIT SHIT!!! And I grabbed the camera, but by the time I got it turned on he had already gotten his diploma and was walking across stage. I am a terrible girlfriend fiancee. But I am SO proud of him.
After the ceremony was over, Mimi, Mike, Fred, Gayle and I met up with Chris for some pictures.

After a hundred pictures, we headed to Paddys to meet up with Brandi & Danno. Most of you know that I have this vendetta against Paddy O'Tooles. Im pretty sure at one point in my life I decided I would never step foot in that place. I know way too many skanky girls that hang out up there. But I decided, WHATEVER, it's Chris's graduation, its early, and I was ready for a drink.

Paddy's

My experience at Paddys deserves a section of its own. Danno made me a really really strong Madress, but it was delicious. I practically inhaled it. One drink in and I had a gooood buzz. 2 drinks in I decided that I had to have a "cat picture" with Danno. Im not really sure why, but I was adamant that there would be a cat picture... Please enjoy...
We were "throwing our paws up, baby".
I also met new friends. Like Jeanette. She is really cool. After my 3rd drink, I decided I was going to do a cartwheel. And CHRIS was like "Yeah, do a cartwheel!" Thankfully, my new friend Jeanette was looking out for me. She did not let me do a cartwheel.

Then there was Ross... Ross had a whale on his shirt. After 3 drinks, I thought it was hilarious. So I took a "fish picture" with his whale shirt....Ross was quite the trooper.

Shortly after the fish picture, it became more and more apparent that I was shitfaced and probably needed food. Chris and I went to Mama Goldbergs, drank a ton of water, and went home. But I think, overall, my Paddys experience was a decent one.

Sunday

Im not really sure how, but somehow we got recruited to help build a shed at Fred's house at 9 AM Sunday morning. When I got down there, I realized that this was no longer a "shed" it was more like a barn...
This bad boy is 2 stories high. Claude has built it with basically no help from the ground up... with no plans. They are just 'winging it" Oh Jesus.

We left Fred's around 1, and went back home. The rest of the day we spent grocery shopping and getting ready for Chris' soccer game. I love that Chris has a hobby that he can participate in, but going to a soccer game that starts at 7, and doesn't end till after 9 just doesn't excite me. So i stayed home and did laundry. (Not that laundry is more exciting that Chris' soccer games, but hey, it had to be done)

Nothing else interesting happened this weekend, except one conversation I had with Chris... and you probably wont think it's as funny as I did, but Im going to leave you with it anyway.

Me: Gayle wants to know what you want for graduation. I told her I wanted to get you a nice frame for your diploma, and she said that if i didnt want to do that, that they would.

Chris: Dad probably doesnt know that frames are about $250.00

Me: Yeah, I mean, but why would he want to do that when he could buy a frame at Hobby Lobby for like $5?

Chris: You know, that would be his logic. He would be like "Son, I got you a frame for your diploma. It didnt quite fit, but I trimmed it up for you..."

AHAHAHA. I died laughing. Have a good week everybody.

Let The Good Times Roll

The last few days have been full of good times with family and friends; I have made so many memories, and Id love to share. Just as a warning, this post is going to be long...

                Friday
I was supposed to work, but Chris was off and wanted to go to a pre-float loading party at the Wine loft, so I took off work to start the Mardi Gras party early. We had a little lunch at Wine Loft, and then walked around the corner to Twist (a new cupcake boutique). The plan was to split one cupcake, but we couldnt decide so we ended up getting 3... For those of you who dont know, Chris doesnt eat a lot of sweets. So after he devoured 2 1/2 cupcakes, he was on a SUGAR HIGH. It went kind of like this 'la la lalala bounce bounce bouncebounce lalalalalalala'. .....pause....stop.... "I think Im going to vomit" Sick. Hah, well Im glad he had a good time.

Friday afternoon we headed to Fred & Gayles to load the cars up and take the throws to the float barn. We met some of the fam down there too; Erick, Pam, Ericka, Jack, Debbie, John, Drew, Rachel, Tarriq, Mike & Kaylin. After float loading we all went to China Doll. Nobody wanted China Doll. It almost became a fist fight, but we tried to play nice since this was only Day 1 in what turned out to be a Four Day Family Affair. I had the best seat of the night though. I got to sit next to John (Chris's brother-in-law) who I found out is FUNNY AS SHIT. I also sat across from Chris and Drew, who kept me laughing the whole night.
After dinner, Tarriq and Drew came home with us. I am under strict instructions to keep all events of Friday night under wraps, but we had a really really good time together. We stayed up till almost 2:30 before I forced everybody to go to sleep.

Saturday
We all woke up, gathered our things and headed downtown. Chris and I left Drew with Erick, and Tarriq with Fred (sorry 'bout that Tarriq...) and we checked in to our room, got some food and started drinking. Unfortunately around 3:30, Mobile Police Department called the parade off due to bad weather that was headed our way. It put a little damper on the day, Chris threw a little temper tantrum, but in the end all was good. The guys headed to due their 'ceremonial pre-parade things', also known as drinking... and I hung out with Justin, Alisa, Lindsay, SUZY, and Drew. Eventually the maskers made it back, we all got dressed and headed to the ball. We had such an amazing night. Somehow this year Chris and I managed to avoid all drama. Well, kind of. Mike, and Claude assumed Ginger was keeping their children during the ball, but didnt really ask Ginger. And Ginger was staying at our house... We werent prepared at all for having children in our house... Our pantry was basically empty. Opps. But the night was still fun- We danced, drank, took tons of pictures & spent lots of time with friends.
A few of my favorite moments included:

Erick trying to convince me he looked like George Clooney. I never did see the resemblance....

Hanging out with my parents

Seeing Suzy, Her Mom and Her Date. I miss SueSue SO Much!

Hanging out with all of our friends

Sunday
Sunday morning we crawled out of bed, and headed to breakfast at the Spot of Tea with Debbie, John, their friends Becky and Chris, Pam, Erick, Fred & Gayle. It was delicious and crowded as always. After Breakfast Chris and I headed home to do some homework. I had completely forgotten that there were like 15 people at my house, mostly under the age of 10. Fantastic. But, it wasnt as bad as I thought it would be. They were very good while I wrote my paper. As soon as I was finished, we all got dressed and got ready to head down to the Island to grill out and spend some time with our family. This was my favorite part of the whole weekend. The whole family was there; Fred, Gayle, Deb, John, Drew, Rachel, Erick, Pam, Ericka, Jack, Ginger, Tarriq, Summer, Corey, Sarrah, Claude, Wanda, Ashlie, Mike, Kay, Chris & Me. Plus Deb's friends Becky, Chris, and their two boys. It was so beautiful down there.
We grilled out & played beach volleyball... My team kicked Chris' teams butt!!

Sunday night after the big dinner with the fam, Rachel asked to come home with Chris & me so she could play with Mobley. Ginger, Sarrah & Tarriq were also spending the night. By the time we picked up Mobs & got home, somehow we ended up with Ashlie too. We all piled in the living room and watched How to Train Your Dragon. I do have to apologize to everybody there though, about midnight I got TIRED and GROUCHY. Those of you who know me well KNOW that I HAVE to go to bed at a decent hour... 3 nights past midnight started to kill me.

Monday
We woke up, and mostly spent the morning just hanging around the house in our jammies. Chris and I eventually went to the store and came home to make spaghetti for everybody at our house. After lunch we got ready to go down to the parade. Chris, Tarriq and I piled in the car about 3:45 and left Ginger with the girls (sorry, Gin...). When we got downtown, Chris went with Erick to get ready for the parade, and Tarriq and I went drinking with John.

Eventually, the rest of the crew showed up to watch the parade. Here are some of my favorite pictures & a video of Chris riding. Look for my "Happy Birthday Jack" sign. I knocked that out while I had a little buzz Friday night! Oh & sorry about the recording quality, I was trying not to get hit with shit.

After the Parade
After the parade was an adventure of its own. Chris was pretty shitfaced... This is what he looked like coming off the float
We spent probably 30 minutes at the Malaga that Chris doesnt remember any of. He was harassing family and strangers a like. He kept making strangers take pictures with him, those poor people...But as funny as that was, this might be my favorite picture ever. (Chris and John)
I finally convinced Chris to get in the car and head home, and holy crap I was STARVING. I tried to go to Foosacks, but apparently at they are not open at 10:30, sad. So I went to Arbys. For some reason, Chris thought it was a great idea to throw his shoe at Arbys. I took his shoe from him, parked the car, and before I could put his shoe back on for him (yes, he was THAT drunk) he leaped out of the car and tried to run inside. Luckily for me, the door was locked. But instead of getting back in the car, Chris sat on the hood of my car and started peeing. It took what seemed like a very long time to convince Chris to put his wiener up and get in the car. Somehow we made it home without Chris causing a crisis.

Against my better judgement I let Chris take Mobley outside to pee... HOLY SHIT. After about 4 minutes I went to check on them and Chris was laying in our front yard.... I got Mobley to come in, but Chris was a different story. He was perfectly content chilling in our front yard. Im just thankful that our neighbors were already asleep. He finally came inside, and got really excited that I had Arbys. He had already forgotten that I picked up dinner. So we ate, and finally went to sleep around 1.

Fat Tuesday
Im exhausted. My house is a mess. Chris woke up drunk. He decided to finally roll into work about 9:30, and Mobs and I went back to sleep. We slept until 12, and now Im just sitting here wondering where the hell to start. I need a shower, and my house needs to be cleaned from top to bottom, but mostly Im just wanting to sleep all day long.
Its been a long long long few days, but at the same time, I wish it wouldnt have gone by so fast. I love having everybody here. I love Chris' family so much. I cant wait to call myself a Newman!

350 days until Mardi Gras 2012...
